CARE Philippines holds interview with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (MDRRMO) regarding disaster impacts and management in Camalig, Albay.
This activity aims to gauge the efficacy of outputs and systems set place through “Andam Lahar” – a community-based project which focuses on preparation for potential lahar risks for areas in Permanent Danger Zones (PDZs).
Recognizing the various disasters that transpired in the country last year, CARE Philippines in partnership with LGU-Camalig seek to strengthen their mutual thrust in saving lives and promoting disaster preparedness and response.
The MDRRMO likewise requested financial assistance for structural mitigation as augmentation for said office’s life-saving efforts.
Highlighting similar advocacies, the MDRRMO remains instrumental in the conduct of the “Andam Lahar” information drive in the disaster-prone areas of Camalig – Information, education, and communication (IEC) materials containing lahar/disaster precautionary and response measures are being distributed to high-risk (flood and lahar-prone) households.
CARE Philippines is a non-government organization (NGO) in the Philippines that aims to provide emergency relief to disaster-affected families and eradicate poverty in the country.
As per request by the MDRRMO, the NGO considers to conduct future corresponding interviews in the town to further assess and raise disaster awareness in the grassroots.
