The Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD) Regional Field Office V paid a courtesy call today to discuss preliminary activities regarding the Social Pension payout, Mayor’s Office, 3rd flr., Mytalic bldg., Camalig Municipal Hall, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
 
DSWD is set to launch its Social Pension payout for indigent senior citizens as part of the agency’s objective in catering the needs of the vulnerable sectors amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
 
DSWD will conduct said payout through a cluster-based distribution to cater barangays starting from Brgy. Baligang, Cotmon, and Ilawod.
 
Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos Irwin G. Baldo, Jr. likewise expressed gratitude to the distribution team for the urgent intervention, reiterating the need to prioritize the town’s indigent senior citizens as the cash assistance is a great help in covering daily subsistence of the beneficiaries.
 
As indicated in RA 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens is an additional government assistance which aims to improve the condition of indigent senior citizens by augmenting their daily needs, reduce incidence of hunger, and protect them from neglect, abuse, deprivation and natural and man-made disasters.
