Last March 15, 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) officially started its registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) at the Bungkaras Gymnasium, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.

Step 2 of the registration is scheduled to run for a 60-day period and is set to initially cater barangays within the town’s commercial district.

Signed into law in August 2018, the provision of National IDs targets the real poor residents in the municipality, allowing convenient transactions through a single form of identification as compared to the tedious presentation of various forms of IDs and requirements.

PSA also eyes to cover southern and far-flung barangays to maximize coverage of the registration phase.

The PhilSys ID is a valid proof of identity for all residents devised to ensure faster and simpler access to public and private transactions, opening of bank accounts, enrollment in schools, and other relative services.

Said ID also serves as one of the government’s references in the proper allocation of resources and in the efficient delivery of social welfare services especially for families most affected by poverty, disasters, and the impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
