The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development & Mechanization (PHilMech) through the Office of Albay 2nd District Representative, Congressman, Hon. Joey Sarte Salceda spearheaded the ceremonial turn over of agricultural machinery for Camalig’s farmer associations.

Beneficiaries of said intervention include the Libod-Bascaran Farmers Association (LIBAFA), Quinuartilan Camalig Farmers & Irrigators’ Association Inc., Tumpa Farmers Association, and the Libod-Bariw-Minto Irrigators Association.

A total of twenty (20) machinery comprised of hand tractors, walk behind transplanters, mini threshers, rice reapers, and mobile rice mills were given to the beneficiaries.

In pursuit of its advocacy in promoting food sufficiency and sustainability, said intervention is also in line with the government’s viable response to the impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic through the implementation of sustainable agricultural strategies.
