The Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD) holds an orientation regarding the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive & Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), MDRRMC Operations & Training Center, 3rd flr., Mytalic bldg., Camalig Municipal Hall, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
Imbued by the objectives of the National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP), this initiative seeks to empower communities and augment the LGU-Camalig’s resources with the end view of promoting sustainable livelihood interventions and inclusive local governance.
DSWD is set to release Php5,000,000.00 grant to LGU-Camalig to cover for various development projects relative to the needs of the Camaligueños especially the poorest of the poor.
The KALAHI-CIDSS is comprised of four (4) sub-project categories including public goods, community enterprise, human resource development, and environmental protection and conservation.
Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos Irwin G. Baldo, Jr. likewise expressed gratitude to DSWD for the project, reiterating its importance in transforming the lives of the disadvantage communities.
KALAHI-CIDSS also eyes to provide disaster and pandemic assistance through the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPEs), hygiene kits, communication devices, and sanitation and cleaning supplies, conduct of capability-building activities, construction or rehabilitation of community facilities, repair of water supply systems, cash assistance for families not covered by SAP, CCT, UCT, and AICS, and other similar interventions.
Listed as one of the programs of the National Government carried out by DSWD, KALAHI-CIDSS focuses in alleviating poverty and in improving the LGU’s responsiveness in public service.
