The Department of Environment & Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau Region V (DENR-EMB R5) conducts inspection at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at Brgy. Miti and Brgy. Sua, Camalig, Albay.
Said activity aims to keep track of necessary interventions to improve and sustain the local government’s solid waste management at the barangay level.
The inspection was conducted in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (MDRRMO), the Municipal Environment & Natural Resources Office (MENRO), and the Barangay Ecological Solid Waste Management Committees of Brgy. Miti and Sua.
The inspection team further advised the barangay representatives to continue the effective management of MRFs, backyard gardening, and composting, and regularly record similar activities in order to accurately monitor waste collection in their respective areas of responsibility.
Based from data accumulated by the MDRRMO, LGU-Camalig’s solid waste management collection summary has increased by nearly 35% compared with the reported collection summary in January and February last year.
To date, a total of eighty-six (86) Materials Recovery Facility (MRFs) have so far been installed in the entire town to cover waste collection and segregation practices pursuant to Municipal Ordinance 2012-02.
