The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) spearheaded a Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation Team (RPMET) deployment at the ongoing construction of the new evacuation center located at Brgy. Bongabong, Camalig, Albay.

Said activity was conducted in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (MDRRMO), Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), Municipal Social Welfare & Development Office (MSWDO), Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH), National Housing Authority (NHA), and the Department of Human Settlements & Urban Development (DHSUD).

The team assessed and inspected physical accomplishments relative to the construction of the evacuation facility to ensure its readiness in the event of calamities and other life-threatening occurrences.

Funded by the OCD, the establishment is set to accommodate about 530 individuals or 106 families in the town.

With a gross floor area of 1,445sqm, the evacuation center features a medical clinic, parking space, laundry and drying area, MRF, administrative office, play area with breastfeeding room, male and female toilet, and bath facilities with PWD provision.

Construction works on the evacuation center are nearing completion according to the team’s assessment.

In consonance with the maintenance of the town’s zero-casualty goal, this project also forms part of LGU-Camalig’s disaster preparedness and mitigation efforts geared in protecting the community especially the most vulnerable families.
