LGU-Camalig through the Municipal Tourism & Cultural Heritage Office (MTCHO) holds the awarding of cash cheques to barangays with tourist attractions, Mayor’s Office conference room, 3rd flr., Mytalic bldg., Camalig Municipal Hall, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
A total of Php424,500.00 have been generated for the period from November 2019 to October 2020 through tourist registration and environmental fees of Sumlang Lake at Brgy. Sumlang, Solong Eco-Park at Solong, Quituinday Green Hills at Quituinday, Quituinan Hills at Tinago, and Hoyop-Hoyopan Cave at Cotmon.
LGU-Camalig shares 30% (Php127,350.00) of the revenue to the selected barangays which is set to be allocated in each barangay’s tourism, cultural, and environmental projects.
This initiative is in consonance with the provisions under Municipal Ordinance No. 2016-10 otherwise known as the “Camalig Integrated Tourism & Cultural Heritage Code” wherein one of the objectives aims to financially capacitate barangay representatives in the implementation of tourism, cultural, and environmental-centric interventions for the benefit of the general public.
The awarding of cash cheques also forms part of LGU-Camalig’s drive in sustaining its comprehensive tourism development program through intensified revenue generation and investment, and improvement of the municipality’s tourism circuits.
