The Philippine National Police (PNP) holds drug-testing for Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) in coordination with the Municipal Health Office (MHO) and the Municipal Social Welfare & Development Office (MSWDO), Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Session Hall, Camalig Municipal Hall, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
A total of thirty-three (34) PWUDs underwent said drug-testing as part of the PNP’s “Oplan Liwanag” Recovery & Wellness Program which aims to clean the town’s slate from cases of illegal drug use pursuant to RA 9165 otherwise known as, “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”.
As per the MSWDO, 611 out of 765 drug surrenderees have been rehabilitated through the collaborative after-care programs of concerned local agencies.
The PNP has been an active partner of the local government in the implementation of anti-illegal drugs interventions amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The activity is also in consonance with the mandates of the 12-point Executive Agenda which is the intensification of the Municipal Anti Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) and BADAC programs for the promotion of the welfare of the general public.
Onward to the new normal, functionaries under LGU-Camalig remain as anti-drug advocates to which efforts continuously complement the national government’s campaign in eradicating one of the country’s serious problems.
