The Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD) holds a capacity assessment activity regarding collaborative plans and programs under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive & Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), MDRRMC Operations & Training Center, 3rd flr., Mytalic bldg., Camalig Municipal Hall, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
Imbued by the objectives of the National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP), this activity forms part of DSWD’s drive in empowering communities by augmenting resources from LGU-Camalig with the end goal of promoting sustainable community-centric interventions and inclusive local governance.
During the activity, personnel under the DSWD highlighted the institutionalization of the Community Driven Development (CDD) initiative in the plans and programs of LGU-Camalig to maximize both agencies’ delivery of social protection including improvement of welfare conditions and access of household beneficiaries, increased participation in local planning and budgeting, better identification of needs and solutions, and promotion of gender-responsiveness.
Said institutionalization is set to be complemented through the Community Empowerment Activity Cycle (CEAC) – a platform used by KALAHI-CIDSS for engaging communities that apply the CDD approach in the analysis, planning, project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
DSWD also eyes to release a million-worth cash grant to LGU-Camalig to cover for various development projects relative to the needs of the Camaligueños especially the poorest of the poor.
The KALAHI-CIDSS is comprised of four (4) sub-project categories namely public goods, community enterprise, human resource development, and environmental protection and conservation.
Listed as one of the programs of the National Government carried out by DSWD, KALAHI-CIDSS focuses in transforming the lives of the disadvantage communities and in improving the LGU’s performance in public service.
