LGU-Camalig holds a dialogue with NetCity regarding future plans including free public wifi and other internet services, Mayor’s Office conference room, 3rd flr., Mytalic bldg., Camalig Municipal Hall, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
Discussions mainly delved in the installation of a free public wifi with an internet speed tier of 1,000Mbps to cover the town’s tourist spots and barangays within the commercial district.
Said projects aims to provide wide internet access with the end goal of bringing convenience and essential information closer to the Camaligueños amid calamities and the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Aiming to foster a unified spot for digital connectivity, Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos Irwin G. Baldo, Jr. likewise suggested to designate the municipal hall as the main access point to ease coordination efforts regarding concerns of the general public, customize wifi use restrictions, and facilitate relative interventions by LGU-Camalig.
NetCity is also directed to submit a comprehensive proposal containing the project’s costing, requirements, and standards in order to fast track its implementation which the local government notes as beneficial to various sectors of the community especially online learners and work-from-home employees.
LGU-Camalig and NetCity are set to convene again for the finalization of the project.
Pursuant to Republic Act 11032 otherwise known as the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018”, the project seeks to strengthen the delivery of effective public service through safe and innovative community-centric initiatives.
