The Regional Oversight Commitee (ROC) under the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Department of the Interior & Local Government (DILG) led the deliberation on barangay drug-clearing program, Albay Provincial Agriculture Office (APAO), Brgy. Cabangan, Camalig, Albay.
 
This activity seeks to strictly fast track the implementation of drug clearing programs and monitor/assess status of Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) in the barangays.
 
A total of five (5) Punong Barangays (PBs) from Brgy. Anoling, Binanderahan, Gapo, Palanog, and Quirangay participated in the deliberation wherein various queries were raised relative to the effectiveness of anti-illegal drug interventions in their respective areas of responsibility.
 
Said barangays were thereafter declared cleared from illegal drugs subject for revalidation, adding to a total of thirty-nine (39) drug-cleared barangays in the town.
 
PDEA also reiterated for the need to establish “Balay Silangan” – a community-based reformation/rehabilitation program that offers counselling, spiritual and values formation, livelihood training, and moral recovery programs for drug surrenderees.
 
In October 1, 2020, LGU-Camalig in partnership with PDEA held a drug-clearing orientation with the municipality’s PBs and Barangay Secretaries to strengthen the government’s drive in cleaning the town’s slate from cases of illegal drug use pursuant to RA 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”.
 
Onward to the new normal, LGU-Camalig eyes to further its anti-illegal drug initiatives and remain as public health and safety advocates to which efforts complement the National Government’s campaign in eradicating one of the country’s serious problems.
