LGU-Camalig expressed support in the celebration of the 43rd National Disability Prevention & Rehabilitation Week, Bungkaras Gymnasium, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
 
With the theme, “Kalusugan at Kaunlaran ng Pilipinong May Kapansanan, Isulong sa Gitna ng Pandemya”, the event seeks to promote health and economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) especially in the time of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
 
A total of seventy-five (75) PWDs and Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Workers participated in the event in which 45 parents of mental patients received self-care kits, 20 PWDs received assistive devices comprised of walkers, quadripod canes, and a wheelchair, and 10 PWDs were given livelihood assistance grant amounting to Php5,000 each.
 
This activity also forms part of LGU-Camalig’s advocacy in promoting an inclusive approach in public service, ensuring that PWDs will not be left behind in the delivery of basic services and timely assistance.
 
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 361, the third week of July has been declared in observance of the National Disability Prevention & Rehabilitation Week which is set to culminate on the birthdate of the sublime paralytic National Hero, Apolinario Mabini on July 23 each year.
