The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) through Branch Manager, Mr. Levi S. Olivar Jr. turned over cash assistance amounting to Php500,000 to LGU-Camalig.
Said initiative forms part of the agency’s advocacy in expressing profound sense of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its commitment to Albay 2nd District Representative, Congressman, Hon. Joey Sarte Salceda in strengthening the local government’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic response and recovery capabilities.
The turnover was likewise participated by Camalig Municipal Councilors, Vicente M. Manlangit III and Gilbert E. Vibar, Polangui Municipal Councilor Jesciel G. Salceda, Legazpi City Councilor Vince F. Baltazar, and Municipal Treasurer Corazon L. Marilla.
LGU-Camalig eyes to allocate said funds to the COVID-relayed efforts of the local government specifically the procurement of medical supplies (antigen kits) and equipment, improvement of services in quarantine/isolation facilities, and other mitigation and containment operations.
The provision of financial supports is also pursuant to Republic Act No. 11469 otherwise known as the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” and Republic Act No. 11494 or the “Bayanihan to Recover as One Act” created purposely to enjoin agencies in promoting a whole-of-government approach to improve the fight against the impacts of COVID-19.
As of July 26, 2021, Camalig, Albay has a total of 196 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 166 recoveries, 14 deaths, and 16 currently active.
