In its effort in preventing apprehension cases brought by violations of environmental laws particularly in Quirangay, Palanog, Miti, and Gapo, LGU-Camalig in partnership with the Community Environment & Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Guinobatan spearheaded an awareness raising activity, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Session Hall, Brgy. 2, Poblacion.
 
Participated by all fifty (50) Punong Barangays (PBs) in the town, the activity aims to equip said individuals with necessary know-hows to further strengthen compliance and environmental endeavors at the grassroots level in accordance with Republic Act No. 11038 or the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act and Presidential Decree No. 705 or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.
 
The discussions mainly focused on said environmental laws and regulations, permit requirements, concerns, and other information regarding environmental awareness.
 
CENRO likewise encouraged the PBs to conduct projects in line with the National Greening Program which aims to reduce poverty, promote food security, environmental stability, and enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation.
 
Environmental concerns listed in Camalig, Albay include illegal chain saw use, mineral/crystal collection, water rehabilitation, and unauthorized coffin and furniture production.
 
LGU-Camalig eyes to address the issues through strict enforcement of relative laws and implementation of environmental intervention priorities in order to promote a healthy environment and a responsible community for all.
