In line with sustaining Camalig’s zero-casualty initiatives, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology & Seismology (PHIVOLCS) holds a briefing regarding the Earthquake Hazards Assessment and Mapping project, Mayor’s Office conference room, 3rd flr., Mytalic bldg, Camalig Municipal Hall.

Said project aims to generate earthquake hazard maps in the town which will be used by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (MDRRMO), development planners, national and local authorities, scientific communities, and the general public for earthquake preparedness and safety.

One of the components of the project is the Ground Shaking Hazard mapping – a tool composed of two (2) geophysical survey methods specifically refraction microtremor (ReMi) and Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ration (HVSR).

The instruments are set to be deployed in open public places with a deployment timeframe of 1-2 hours per site, assuring no harm to people and the environment.

The team under PHIVOLCS are scheduled to conduct the survey starting September 30, 2022 together with the MDRRMO.
