LGU-Camalig recently participated in the Fiesta Bicolandia: Travel & Trade Fair with the attendance of Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., Hotel St. Ellis, Legazpi City.
 
Bearing the theme, “Bicol Tourism: Back on Track”, the 3-day event is being held purposely to revitalize Bicol’s tourism thrust which had been toned down due to the impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
 
In his speech as resource person, Mayor Caloy highlighted LGU-Camalig’s initiatives focused on tourism and cultural heritage development such as but not limited to the approval of resolutions for the creation of plantilla positions under the Municipal Tourism & Cultural Heritage Office (MTCHO), publication of Camalig History Book and other historical books, development of roads, communication services, and tourism facilities, heritage conservation and putting-up of Museo de Camalig – History and Art Museum, and integration of tourism and cultural heritage in the school curricula.
 
Mayor Caloy also encouraged the participating towns and cities to coordinate with LGU-Camalig regarding benchmarking efforts and tourism-related assistance.
 
The Fiesta Bicolandia: Travel & Trade Fair is likewise being conducted to further promote Bicol Region’s extensive list of tourism and cultural assets with the end goal of accelerating local economy which redounds to better service delivery for constituents.
