“Ang consumer kasi, willing naman magbayad yan as long as smooth ang service ng kuryente sakanila. Maganda itong project kasi wala namang babayaran ang munisipyo at ALECO. Gawin nating posible kahit bago itong technology saatin kasi para naman ito sa tao.” -Mayor Caloy
Camalig Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr. has taken decisive action to address the town’s frequent power interruptions and current electricity rates by initiating discussions with the Albay Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ALECO) and Inductotherm Group.
The meeting, held at the Mayor’s Office conference room, focused on exploring solutions using the innovative “JouleBox powerplant” technology, which utilizes induction technology to provide 24/7 power with minimal downtime and a lifespan of 40-50 years.
According to ALECO, this technology, if implemented in a strategic location within Camalig, promises to significantly improve voltage stability in the area. As it utilizes renewable energy, competitive bidding requirements are waived, potentially leading to lower electricity costs for residents. Furthermore, relying on locally produced energy will reduce dependence on external suppliers.
The meeting also saw Mayor Caloy requesting the energization of the Bypass Road at Brgy. Libod-Salugan to encourage investment and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians, highlighting his administration’s commitment to improve the quality of life for residents.
