Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo Jr., along with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and concerned agencies, gathered for the 2nd Municipal Convergence Committee Meeting of 2024 at the Mayor’s Office, 3rd Floor Mytallic Bldg., Municipal Hall.

The discussion included the latest developments on the delivery of social services to various barangays in Camalig through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

As the leading agency in the coordination of social welfare and development programs for the vulnerable and disadvantaged, DSWD is consistently facilitating cash grants to 4Ps beneficiaries and providing development sessions for families and youths, primarily to meet the needs of those who go below the poverty threshold.

DSWD discussed the comprehensive updates on the 4Ps, including the municipal caseload, Pugay Tagumpay, Family Development Session, Youth Development Activity, cash grants, and the current activities of Pantawid staff. DSWD further highlighted the recent social worker licensure examination passers, noting that they will be offered contractual positions in the agency.

SLP, on the other hand, conversed about its 2024 regular and special projects, highlighting the total participants from 2023 to the present, where they accomodated 1,129 4Ps, 803 Listahan, 398 Household, 272 male, and 1,902 female beneficiaries.

DSWD has been an active partner of LGU-Camalig in streamlining the delivery of social services that seek to reduce poverty and the community’s vulnerability to risks by promoting livelihood opportunities and improving family resilience in the face of adversity.
