The Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) convened for the 3rd Quarter Meeting at Mayor’s Office, 3rd Floor, Mytallic Bldg, Camalig, Albay, to discuss accomplishments and upcoming initiatives.
 
Presided over by Local Chief Executive Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo Jr., Municipal Social Welfare Department (MSWD) Head Ms. Edlyn Noble, RSW presented LCPC’s 3rd quarter accomplishment report which highlighted the council’s successful leadership trainings across Camalig. The report also outlined plans for the 2024 National Children’s Month, including budget allocation and utilization for ongoing and completed projects.
 
Noble further emphasized the council’s commitment to raising awareness, showcasing the creation of advocacy materials in the form of tarpaulins to promote anti-trafficking and anti-violence against women and children.
 
Ms. Lea Nierva, RSW also presented LCAT-VAWC’s accomplishment report and summary of reported Children in Need of Special Protection (CNSP), Women in Especially Difficult Circumstances (WEDC), and Children at Risk or Children in Conflict with the Law (CAR/CICLS) cases, noting that there were 13 reported CNSP cases, 15 WEDC, and 0 CAR/CICLS cases.
 
Furthermore, Municipal Councilor Hon. Purisima Victoria Nocedo emphasized the importance of strengthening local structures to ensure effective policies and programs are in place to protect children’s rights and welfare.
