His Excellency, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. personally handed out aid to farmers, fishermen, and families affected by Severe Tropical Storm (STS) “Kristine”. The ceremonial turnover of assistance was held at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation (ICR), Legazpi City.
 
He distributed ₱10,000 to each of 36 beneficiaries, representing 3 cities and 15 municipalities in Albay. This is part of a larger effort to provide assistance to a grand total of 5,000 beneficiaries in the entire province.
 
The assistance also reached Camalig, where 300 farmers received the same amount. Camalig Mayor Hon. CarlosCaloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr. was also present to witness the distribution of the aid to his constituents. To expedite the process, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) set up around 20 payout hubs at the venue.
 
President Marcos Jr. announced that ₱50 million will be given to Albay’s local government units to support their recovery efforts. He also emphasized the need for government agencies to strengthen their disaster preparedness measures.
 
In his speech, he said, “Kahit anong hamon ang haharapin natin, basta tayo’y nagkakaisa at sabay-sabay nating hinaharap at ginagawan ng paraan upang maging maayos ang buhay ng ating mga kababayan, magtatagumpay din po tayo.”, highlighting the importance of unity and collective action in overcoming adversity.
 
Late October, the province of Albay was severely impacted by STS “Kristine,” experiencing widespread flooding that damaged infrastructure and displaced thousands of residents.
