Camalig Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., Municipal Councilor Hon. Sherwin “Ian” Buena, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Josephine G. Abansi, Municipal Engineer Celino B. Serra, and Mr. Mike Ed Nuyles met with affected landowners from barangays Cotmon and Del Rosario, along with barangay officials, Ar. Rosario Esquivas from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and Acting Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) Engr. Millie C. Bueta, EnP.
Held at the Del Rosario covered court, the meeting focused on the relocation of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) tower, which will necessitate the acquisition of land from affected residents. The said project forms part of a broader effort of executing Phase II of the Bicol International Airport Development Project.
During the meeting, presentations outlined the specific areas to be purchased, and Landbank of the Philippines presented their appraisal of the lot values (per square meter) and improvements. The requirements for receiving compensation for both land and improvements were also discussed.
The project, funded by the national government with an allocation of ₱180 million to the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA), aims to expand tail lights and relocate the NGCP tower.
A portion of the funds is specifically intended for compensation to affected landowners for their properties and improvements. The meeting was conducted purposely to promote a smooth and transparent process for land acquisition, ensuring that affected residents are fairly compensated for their losses due to the relocation project.
