

Residents of Camalig can look forward to improved healthcare and expanded opportunities for training and events following the groundbreaking ceremony for two new vital facilities held today, February 27, 2025, in Brgy. Iluluan and Tinago, Camalig, Albay.
The first project, the Super Health Center in Iluluan, is a 1,465.28 square meter, one-story facility designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services. The center will house consultation rooms, an x-ray room, a pharmacy, a dialysis treatment room, a birthing room, a minor surgical room, and a sterilization room, among other essential amenities.
In Tinago, the second project, a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences for Education, and Sports (MICES) building is underway. This two-story, 2,883.20 square meter
structure is designed to host meetings, incentives, conferences, educational programs, and sporting events, fostering community development and providing versatile spaces for various activities. It can also serve as additional evacuation center during calamities.

The projects are funded by Congressmen Co and Salceda, who, in their statements, emphasized the importance of these developments for Camalig, “Camalig deserves more than this. We dedicate these facilities to the people of Camalig and the political leadership of Mayor Baldo,” Salceda said.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key officials, including Camalig Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., Albay 2nd District Representative Hon. Joey Sarte Salceda, Ako Bikol (AKB) Partylist Representative Cong. Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co, former AKB Partylist representative Cong. Christopher “Kito” Co, Farida “Diday” Co, Department of Public
Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engineer Engr. Virgilio Eduarte, municipal councilors, officials from Iluluan and Tinago, and members of the media.

Baldo expressed his enthusiasm for the projects, “Dakulo po an magiging impact sading mga proyekto sa saton na banwa. Indi na din kaypwan magrayo pa an mga nasa upland para magpabulong. Mas maray din po na matanos an alignment san saton na mga pagiriba tanganing padagos kina madali an pagimplementar nin mga proyekto para sa saton na mga habitantes,” he said. Baldo also acknowledged the funding provided by the congressmen and the support of the municipal council.
Following the groundbreaking, a press conference was held at the Visitor’s Information Center (VIC) in Tinago, wherein Congressman Zaldy Co announced plans to install additional substations in Albay, purposely to address widespread power outages. He explained that the limited number of substations in the province currently causes the problem. Co expects the project to be completed before 2028.
