BJMP Regional Office 5 celebrates 34th anniversary; honors Mayor Caloy Baldo with special award
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Regional Office V (BJMPRO-V) celebrated its 34th anniversary with a grand ceremony held at The Oriental Legazpi, Sto. Niño Village, Taysan Hill in Legazpi City, Albay.
Bearing the theme, “Matatag na Serbisyo, Patnubay sa Tunay na Pagbabago,” the event honored the steadfast dedication of individuals and partners in promoting public safety, humane safekeeping, and the productive development of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
The ceremony honored Camalig District Jail’s Acting Warden, JINSP Anita T. Andueza, as the Best Junior Officer of the Year. Since her deployment, Andueza has been an active partner of the Local Government Unit of Camalig (LGU-Camalig) in implementing programs and interventions that prioritize the welfare and rehabilitation of PDLs.
Camalig Mayor Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., also graced the event. He was the only local chief executive that BJMPRO-V honored with a Special Award out of 24 stakeholders. This award was attributed to Baldo’s continuous support for the programs of Camalig District Jail, especially those that aim to empower PDLs. He funded the renovation of Camalig District Jail’s Admin Building, donated office supplies, and provided internet support and fuel, among other provisions. Baldo also initiated the documentation of the livelihood initiatives of PDLs, purposely to promote their work and further help them earn additional income for their families.
In a statement, Baldo emphasized the value of empathy and teamwork in fostering reformation and driving positive change. He said, “Naniniwala ako na ginagawa natin ang lahat ng ito hindi lamang para sa ikauunlad ng ating bayan, kundi para na rin sa ikauunlad ng bawat indibidwal na nagangarap ng mas magandang bukas.”
