The Department of Science and Technology- Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) will be conducting the 2023 National Nutrition Survey (NNS) to a selected number of households in three barangays in Camalig, Albay in a bid to gather empirical data on the overall nutritional and health status of the residents.

15 households in Brgy. Maninila, 13 in Tagaytay, and 10 in Calabidongan are the target respondents of the said survey, where specific data on their physical growth, nutrition biomarkers, mental health conditions, food availability, and consumption practices of infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly will be assessed.

In-person interviews, actual body and blood pressure checks, household food weighing, evaluation of individual food intake, and the collection of blood and urine samples will all be used in the data collection process.

Trained field workers composed of nutritionist-dietitians, registered nurses, registered medical-technologists, and other allied health professionals from DOST-FNRI will carry out the survey starting today, February 12, until February 18, 2024.

The survey findings will be used as the framework for planning nutrition and development programs for timely policy decisions at the national and regional levels.

This initiative coincides with LGU-Camalig’s mandate to offer avenues for program implementation, which seeks to promote food security and nutrition interventions across all levels.
