A total of 335 tricycle drivers and operators with an existing franchise and updated annual dues benefited from the second-wave distribution of tire subsidy from LGU-Camalig.
“Kung padagos kamo na mag-sunod sa mga patakaran, kada tawn ayo kamo libreng gulong”, said Mayor Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo Jr. as he announced that the local government might continue to carry out said assistance on a yearly basis as long as the beneficiaries continued to abide by the rules and regulations regarding physical requirements, reasonable fare rates, and franchise renewal.
Each beneficiary received two tires— one for the front and one for the rear.
Since the first wave of distribution, which initially benefited 425 beneficiaries, a total of 760 trike drivers and operators have received said support.
Vice Mayor Ma. Ahrdail ‘Ding’ Baldo, who also graced the distribution, highlighted that one of the goals of this initiative is to guarantee that the general public has access to safe, dependable, and cost-effective means of transportation and to ensure that drivers and operators receive adequate support for maintaining their income.
In order to help commuters calculate the reasonable cost of the ride and avoid overcharging, the Mayor also advised the tricycle operators and drivers to display the updated fare matrix inside their vehicles, which they can claim at the Municipal Treasurer’s Office (MTO).
