In a bid to promote gender mainstreaming in barangay government, LGU-Camalig has started the two-day workshop on barangay gender and development (GAD), which was attended by the first batch of brgy. officials and appointed secretaries and treasurers.

Mayor Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo Jr. recognized the brgy. officials and members as change makers who are essential in the fulfillment of short and long-term success of the local government’s gender mainstreaming initiatives.

The workshop has discussed various key points on formulating gender-responsive programs, projects, and initiatives (PPAs) at the grassroots level, bearing with the local government’s accounting rules and regulations towards an equitable allocation of resources.

Camalig GAD Focal Person, Ms. Shyrel San Andres, stressed that PPAs under GAD must focus on the provision of basic services and facilities geared towards inclusive economic opportunities, children welfare, education, and more that pursue empowered, responsive, and rights-abiding local communities.
