In a bid to further improve emergency and health response in Camalig, Albay, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (MDRRMO), headed by Mr. Rommel V. Negrete, Jr., PhD, JD, D Hum, hosts a 7-day comprehensive training program for its first responders.

 

With veteran Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) from the Albay Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Bicol Regional Hospital & Medical Center (BRHMC) as resource persons, the training focuses on Basic Life Support (BLS) – Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) management, and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), alongside Ambulance Operation and Management. A total of 20 MDRRMO personnel, including all drivers and EMTs, currently participate in the course.

 

Said training is being conducted purposely to empower MDRRMO responders with not only the necessary practical skills but also the confidence to effectively manage various emergency scenarios. They are also set to engage into modules, covering first aid, breathing emergencies, heart attacks, environmental injuries, fever management, and safe techniques for transferring injured individuals.

 

Each session also concludes with a full-scale demonstration, allowing participants to apply their newly-acquired skills in a realistic emergency scenario.
