Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo Jr., along with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and concerned agencies, gathered for the 1st Municipal Convergence Committee Meeting of 2024 to confer over DSWD’s flagship programs.

The discussion included the latest developments on the delivery of social services to various barangays in Camalig through the Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

As the leading agency in the coordination of social welfare and development programs for the vulnerable and disadvantaged, DSWD is consistently facilitating cash grants to 4Ps beneficiaries and providing development sessions for families and youths, primarily to meet the needs of those who go below the poverty threshold.

DSWD further emphasized that the pawning of 4Ps cash cards is strictly prohibited, and is discouraging beneficiaries to refrain from using the cash cards as collateral for their loans, as this will put their benefits and participation at risk.

SLP, on the other hand, remained committed to improving the community’s socio-economic conditions by offering micro-enterprise development initiatives and employment facilitation, especially for the 4Ps and Listahanan beneficiaries.

Moreover, 43 barangays in Camalig do have a sub-project under the Phase II implementation of KALAHI-CIDSS, dedicated to the provision of communication devices, concreting of pathways, and provision of amenities for brgy. health facilities and Child Development Center (CDC). The completion of the sub-projects is expected to be in June 2024.

DSWD has been the partner of LGU-Camalig in streamlining the delivery of social services that seek to reduce poverty and the community’s vulnerability to risks by promoting livelihood opportunities and improving each family’s resilience in the face of adversity.
