The Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD), through its representative, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Coordinator, Mr. Christian Buban, conducts an introduction on community-based procurement at the Socorro’s Lakeside Restaurant and Grill, Brgy. Sumlang.
Participated by procurement volunteers and chairpersons of each barangay, the activity aims to train said individuals to navigate and familiarize the procurement process, purposely to ensure that all transactions adhere to legal and ethical standards, with the end goal of fostering a local governance that really prioritizes the needs of the community.
In his message, Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr. underscored the program’s significance, saying “Andito kami para suportahan ang KALAHI program. Dapat tama ang inyong procurement. I-tama natin ang proseso”, highlighting his administration’s intent to ensure that the procurement process is done correctly. Mayor Caloy also emphasized the importance of wise procurement practices by volunteers for the benefit of the general public, especially the poorest of the poor.
Mayor Caloy further urged the participants to select programs that resonate with the residents, expressing, “Sana ang piliin niyong programa, yung mararamdaman talaga ng tao”.
The participants also relayed upcoming projects for the barangays such as but not limited to, the construction of pathways, erection of daycare centers, procurement of medical equipment, and the development of water sanitation systems.
