Members of the Local Health Board have convened at the Mayor’s Office conference room, 3rd flr., Mytallic Bldg., Camalig Municipal Hall, purposely to address key health concerns and ongoing strategies.

The members discussed the upcoming School-Based Immunization (SBI) program scheduled for October 1-11, 2024, relaying also the interim guidelines for the program, emphasizing the need for trained personnel, proper vaccination protocols, and flexible scheduling to maximize participation.

The board also reviewed surveillance data for various diseases, noting 1,317 rabies cases reported from January to August, 2024. Camalig Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr. emphasized the importance of responsible pet ownership and called for stricter enforcement and adoption of the municipal ordinance regarding animal control. To complement this, the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) announced plans to conduct training programs for barangay responders on proper handling of stray dogs and other related interventions.

Regarding the availability of vaccines at the Municipal Health Office (MHO), MMR, IPV/OPV, HEPA B, and PPV 23 are readily available. However, the supply of tetanus toxoid is limited, with only 40 doses remaining. BCG, Pentavalent, and PCV13 vaccines are currently out of stock.

Mayor Caloy further proposed a weekly schedule for doctors to visit barangays, particularly those in remote areas, to improve access to healthcare services. This initiative aims to reduce the need for residents to travel to the MHO for basic medical consultations.
