In conclusion of the National Children’s Month 2024, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), through the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking-Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC), successfully held a mass demonstration contest participated by day care children across Camalig on Friday, November 29, 2024.
The activity, held at the Camalig Command Center (CCC), Brgy. Salugan, Camalig, Albay, saw the participation of Local Chief Executive Hon. Carlos ” Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo Jr., Municipal Councilors Hon. Sheila Marie Dino, Hon. Purisima Nocedo, Hon. Abegail Go, and Emerenciana Morauda, President of the Camalig Child Development Workers (CSWs).
6 clusters, composed of day care children took the stage. Cluster 4 secured the top spot, followed by Cluster 3, and Cluster 2, respectively.
During the activity, Mayor Caloy also delivered the Local State of the Children’s Report, highlighting the complete statistics of LCPC and LCAT-VAWC’s interventions to children, mothers, Child Development Workers (CDWs), out-of-school children and youth (OSCY), Special Needs Education (SNED) learners, and pregnant women and adolescents.
Mayor Caloy further noted the interventions provided to Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL), Child at Risk (CAR), and Children in Need of Special Protection (CNSP), such as the provision of psychosocial interventions, transportation assistance, medical assistance, referrals for counseling, psychological evaluation, referral to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWD), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for intervention, and other welfare services.
In his message, Mayor Caloy stressed the importance of protecting children and providing continuous support, saying, “Ang pinaka importante, matawan ta ang mga akus ning maray na environment, kasi sinda ang susunod na henerasyon ta. Kaya tawan ta ning protection an satun na mga akus asin ipadagos ta ang pagsuporta sanda.”
