LGU-Camalig is preparing for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) audit 2025, with the goal of becoming a two-time national awardee. A recent utilization conference and preparatory meeting, held at the Mayor’s Office conference room, brought together key officials and officers to strategize and address areas needing improvement.

Presided over by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Ms. Johanna L. Nuyda, and attended by Camalig Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., Vice Mayor Hon. Maria Ahrdail “Ding” G. Baldo, and department heads, the meeting focused on the governance assessment report card for 2024. The review revealed areas for enhancement, including the need for an approved Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and improvements in access to safe drinking water, sanitation services, and water quality management initiatives. Department heads assured that they are actively working to address these gaps.

Nuyda also assessed the progress of department-specific issuances, projects, and policies related to the SGLG indicators. These encompass a wide range of areas, including financial administration and sustainability, disaster preparedness, social protection, health compliance, education, business-friendliness, safety and peace and order, environmental services, tourism, cultural heritage, and youth development.

Nuyda further outlined the indicative timeline for the SGLG audit in 2025, with regional assessments scheduled from March to May, national assessments from June to August, presentation of validation results in September, and the announcement of results between October and November.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the updated Citizen’s Charter requirements as prescribed by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), emphasizing the importance of promoting ease of doing business and the adoption of the zero-contact policy.

Camalig’s commitment to good governance was recognized on December 9, 2024, when the municipality received its first SGLG national award at the Manila Hotel. Camalig was one of only three Albay municipalities, alongside Daraga and Polangui, to achieve this prestigious recognition.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) assessed a field of over 1,700 LGUs across the country last year. 714 LGUs passed the audit, with Camalig proudly among them. LGU-Camalig aims to replicate its success this year.
