Camalig Integrated Solid Waste Management Board steps up solid waste management efforts
The Camalig Integrated Solid Waste Management Board (SWMB) recently met at the Mayor’s Office, 3rd Floor, Mytallic Bldg., to approve minutes of the previous meeting and review the ongoing 10-Year Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plan.
The meeting, presided over by Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Chief Florencio Reberta, Jr., aims to bolster the solid waste management efforts of LGU-Camalig, including the reintegration of Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) of several barangays in Camalig, Albay, and formulation of counteractive plans during hazards like pandemics, typhoons, and volcanic eruptions.
In conclusion, the meeting established proactive solutions raised to combat the SWM Plan’s socio-economic and environmental conflicts, which include household hazardous wastes, inadequate infrastructures, improper disposal practices, and tensions surrounding landfill siting.
